Nov. 28th, 2008 07:08 pmSo, at just barely 38000 words, I gave up on NaNo. It wasn't that I didn't want to finish. Machina is a pretty awesome story (even if I did come to find out that Rozen Maiden has a similar premise), and even with the dire need for filler space, ending NaNo really had nothing to do with the story itsself.
No, what truly killed it for me was work. I was already behind on the word count, and then suddenly what was a fairly slow, easy time became insanity. Pure fucking insanity. None uf us were ever told that the holidays would be THAT bad. By Thursday I was so burnt out I was crying every hour. The phones would not slow down. My peak call number was 120. I wanted nothing more than to curl in a ball and sob.
I'm better now, and I know NaNo should never take priority over work, but that doesn't make me any less dissapointed, or any less upset that we were never warned about how crazy it could potientally be.
Ah well...
Maybe next year.
