I know the feeling, Hon. I had a childhood friend that I had recently reconnected online with, Wendy. I was hoping to get to see her this year when we went down to Klamath for our summer visit, but I was just a little too late, she died from stomach cancer just about a week before we left for our trip.
Then again, my grandpa has been told by Dr's for years that he wouldn't last much longer with all of his cancer flare-ups, but he's still alive and kicking.
I hope you get a chance to see your friend, and I hope she gets to do enough in this life to feel like it was a good one, before she moves on. *hugs*
